The tour will begin with the MUSEUM OF TAHITI and HER ISLANDS. Opened in 1978, it is an excellent introduction to Tahiti. A wide collection is exhibited : flora and fauna, Polynesian culture (precontact homes, costumes, religion, dances, musical instruments...), history (the exploratory and missionary period : Captain James Cook, Louis-Antoine de Bougainville and Samuel Wallis, the Pomare dynastyà).
