Next Tour - The National Museum of History and The Boyana Church - The National Museum of History in Sofia was established in 1973 and is one of the largest history museums on the Balkans, home to 650,000 items and the largest archaeological and historical archive. The Museum's collection is its greatest treasure, with materials going all the way back to prehistoric times. In the year 2000, the Museum was relocated to Boyana, in the former residence of Todor Zhivkov, one of the leaders of the People's Republic of Bulgaria.
